Milan Ambrož  se je rodil 12. 5. 1953 v Škofji Loki v Sloveniji. Končal je gimnazijo v Škofji Loki. Študij je nadaljeval  na Visoki šoli za upravne vede. Izobraževanje je nadaljeval na FDV (FSPN) na smeri obramboslovje, ki ga je zaključil z diplomskim delom na področju mednarodnega prava oboroženih konfliktov. Na isti fakulteti je zaključil magisterij iz menedžmenta. Doktoriral je na Fakulteti za organizacijske vede Univerze v Mariboru iz teme na področju organizacijske kulture in sprememb v organizaciji.

Svoje delovne izkušnje je pridobival na področju kriminalistike in forenzičnih znanosti, na področju organiziranosti in upravljanja sistemov varovanja in na področju sistemov varstva pred naravnimi in drugimi nesrečami in varstva pred požarom, kjer je razvil učinkovit sistem varstva organizacije in podjetja pred požarom. Na tem področju je razvil učinkovit način urjenja poklicnih gasilcev in na to temo pripravil tudi učbenik. Za pripravo in vodenje projekta varstva pred potresom v Ljubljani je prejel priznanje občine Ljubljana-center NNNP 82.

Aktivno je deloval tudi na področju razvoja amaterskega kolesarstva v Sloveniji in pri postavljanju zametkov razvoja profesionalnega kolesarstva kot član strokovne ekipe Rog Ljubljana in Sava Kranj. Sodeloval je kot član strokovne ekipe državne reprezentance na Mediteranskih igrah v Maroku (1982), na Olimpijskih igral v Los Angelesu (1984), na svetovnem kolesarskem prvenstvu v Veliki Britaniji (1982), na svetovnem kolesarskem prvenstvu v Švici (1983) in na številnih mednarodnih kolesarskih dirkah  v Evropi in po svetu (Dirka po Slovaškem,  Dirka po Avstriji, Alpe Adria, Dirka po Koloradu, ZDA, 1984…).

Pot ga je nato zanesla v poslovne vode. Prevzel je vodenje Centra za izobraževanje v Savi Kranj. Pod njegovim vodstvom je nastala Akademija operativnega vodenja, ki jo je zaključilo več sto slušateljev iz različnih slovenskih podjetij. Akademijo vodenja je multinacionalka Continental, v katere sestavi je bila Tovarna avto pnevmatik iz Save Kranj, vključila v interni sistem izobraževanja operativnih vodij. V letu 1993 in 1994 je sodeloval v mednarodnem projektu med univerzitetnega programa TEMPUS na področju razvoja človeških potencialov.

Svoje delo v poslovnem svetu je nadaljeval kot poslovni svetovalec nas področju razvoja človeških potencialov. V devetdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja je izvedel uspešne projekte strateškega razvoja človeških potencialov in izboljšanja učinkovitosti organiziranosti v zelo uspešnih podjetjih kot so Kolektor Idrija, Perutnina Ptuj, Mura Murska sobota, Valkarton Logatec, Papirnica Kidričevo, Iskra Emeco, Talum Kidričevo, Energetika Ljubljana. Svetoval je tudi v drugih, skupaj štiridesetih podjetjih v javnem in zasebnem sektorju v Sloveniji in v nekaterih mednarodnih podjetjih. Kot vodilni avtor je izdal dve strokovni monografiji s področja razvoja človeških potencialov, eno na Visoki šoli za socialno delo Univerze v Ljubljani.

Prve akademske izkušnje je pridobil na področju turizma Visoki šoli za turizem Portorož, kjer je kot višji predavatelj in prodekan deloval na področju raziskovalne in pedagoške dejavnosti. Izpeljal je projekt organizacije kongresne dejavnosti v programu PHARE. Kot dekan Visoke šole za turizem v Portorožu je vključil Visoko šolo za turizem Portorož v Univerzo na Primorskem in aktivno sodeloval pri razvoju Univerze na Primorskem.

Na pedagoškem področju je aktivno sodeloval pri pripravi fakultetnega in magistrskega programa turizma. Predaval je predmete Sociologija turizma in Teorije prostega časa na dodiplomski in na podiplomski stopnji študija. V Portorožu je organiziral prvo mednarodno konferenco s področja turizma ENQUENTROS, ki so se je udeležili predstavniki osemnajstih držav. Kot raziskovalec je sodeloval v raziskovalnem programu Območje kulturnega stika Univerze na Primorskem. Izdal je tudi znanstveno monografijo »Sociologija turizma: izhodišča za preučevanje potovalnih kultur« in razvil nekatere termine potovalnih kultur v turizmu.  V tem času je objavil večje število strokovnih in znanstvenih člankov s področja turizma in varnosti v mednarodnih in domačih revijah kot so TQM Magazine, Varstvoslovje, Organizacija. Je tudi avtor študije interaktivnega učnega modela poučevanja na visokošolski ravni izobraževanja.

V istem času je sodeloval kot predavatelj na Fakulteti za varstvoslovje Univerze v Mariboru in pri razvoju specialističnega programa na področju varstvoslovja. Predaval je predmet Varnostna kultura v poslovnih sistemih. Kot gostujoči predavatelj je predaval na magistrskem programu Ekonomske fakultete Univerze v Ljubljani pri predmetu Sociologija turizma.

Na Visoki šoli za turizem je sodeloval kot docent za sociologijo turizma do prevzema funkcije Direktorja Inštituta za socialno varstvo Republike Slovenije, kjer je vodil številne projekte s področja socialnega varstva in še posebej projekt družinskega pomočnika. Ugotovitve projekta o vlogi ombudsmana je objavil v znanstveni reviji (JCR) International Journal of Social Welfare.

Poleg tega je sodeloval kot predavatelj pri predmetu Organizacijska kultura na Gea College na dodiplomski stopnji študija in kot mentor na magisteriju o potovalnih navadah turistov, ki je prejel prvo nagrado za odličnost na Gea Collegeu.

Milan Ambrož

Vključil se je priprave na ustanavljanje Fakultete za turizem v Brežicah in na tej fakulteti sodeloval pri pripravi magistrskega programa na bolonjski stopnji študija. Na več višjih šolah v Sloveniji je predaval predmete Poslovni procesi in Vodenje projektov in vodil projekt oblikovanja visokošolskega programa na področju logistike. Objavil je znanstveni članek v reviji Promet (JCR) z naslovom: Impact of mediating role of repurchase intentions on customer retention.

Kot izredni profesor, izvoljen v naziv izrednega profesorja na Fakulteti za organizacijske študije v Novem mestu in na Filozofski fakulteti Univerze v Mariboru, pol desetletja predava na Fakulteti za organizacijske študije v Novem mestu pri predmetih Raziskovalna metodologija in Sodobne organizacijske teorije na visokošolskem programu, Vodenje, etika in družbena odgovornost na magistrskem programu in Nove paradigme organizacijskih teorij na doktorskem programu. Že več let predava tudi na AME – Evropskem centru, Maribor. V preteklosti je na socialni gerontologiji predaval pri predmetih Socialna gerontologija, Sociološke, psihološke in antropološke teorije staranja, Neprofitne organizacije, Družbena konstrukcija staranja in Antropološki vidiki staranja. Trenutno na programu Socialna gerontologija predava predmete na treh stopnjah študija: Socialna gerontologija, Raziskovanje v gerontologiji, Družbena konstrukcija staranja in Antropološki vidiki staranja.

V raziskovanju posebno pozornost usmerja v proučevanje družbene konstrukcije pojmovnih struktur na področju organizacije in poslovnih sistemov in organizacijske kulture in na področju etike, voditeljstva in osebnega razvoja. Na tem področju posebno pozornost namenja raziskovalnim in svetovalnim aktivnostim v zvezi s spremembami organiziranosti v organizacijah in podjetjih. Trenutno je zunanji raziskovalec v projektu Ekonomske fakultete v Nišu (Univerza v Nišu) Improving competitiveness of public and private sector by networking competences in the process of European integration of Serbia. V tem projektu je objavil štiri znanstvene članke na temo inovativnosti in sprememb v organiziranosti organizacij  v obliki samostojnih poglavij v mednarodnih znanstvenih monografijah.

Raziskovalno deluje tudi na področju turizma, kjer posebej podrobno raziskuje značilnosti potovalnih kultur v turizmu, varnost v turizmu in poglede turistov na turistično destinacijo.  Na to temo je v procesu izdaje nova znanstvena monografija z naslovom Social construction of tourism photographic images, ki jo izdaja Inštitut INBIS.

Na področju socialne gerontologije se posebej posveča vlogi starejše populacije v poslovnem in delovnem okolju in raziskuje pomen življenjskega sloga posameznika v poznem življenjskem obdobju.

Na področju raziskovalne metodologije se posebej ukvarja s pogledom raziskovalca v procesu načrtovanja in izpeljave raziskovalnih projektov. Na to temo bo v letu 2014 izšla znanstvena monografija z naslovom: »Pogled raziskovalca«, ki obravnava načrtovanje raziskovalnega projekta, uporabne metodološke pristope in raziskovalni proces na področju družboslovnih znanosti, ki jo bo izdal inštitut INBIS.

Ambrož Milan je avtor, vodilni avtor ali soavtor osmih znanstvenih monografij v  in dveh strokovnih monografij s področja organiziranosti organizacij, s področja neprofitnih organizacij, s področja voditeljstva in s področja turizma. Dve znanstveni monografiji je objavil v tujini.  Poleg tega je avtor štiriindvajsetih izvirnih znanstvenih člankov in večjega števila strokovnih člankov. S številnimi znanstvenimi in strokovnimi članki je sodeloval na nacionalnih in mednarodnih konferencah, tudi kot vabljen predavatelj s področja organizacije, varnosti, turizma in energetike.  Je tudi avtor številnih raziskovalnih poročil s teh področij. Kot član uredniškega odbora sodeluje v treh mednarodnih revijah s področja sociologije, turizma in ekonomike.

Aktiven je tudi na področju fotografije, kjer je prejel več nagrad na fotografskih razstavah doma in v tujini. Je tudi avtor fotografij za naslovnice nekaterih znanstvenih monografij in avtor fotografij v znanstveni monografiji: »Organization in turbulent business world.” Sodeluje tudi kot član Antropološkega društva Slovenije.


Curriculum vitae

Ambrož Milan was born (12.5.1953) in town Škofja Loka. After finishing high school in Škofja Loka, he continued his education in Ljubljana. He graduated from the College of administrative sciences at Ljubljana University and later at Faculty for social science (FSPN) at the University of Ljubljana. He holds a Master degree at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSPN) at University of Ljubljana and the Ph.D. from the Faculty of organizational sciences at the University of Maribor.

Milan Ambrož is an associate professor of sociology at Faculty of Organizational Studies Novo most and at Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Maribor. He gained his first working experiences in the field of criminal science working as a forensic. In coming years, he deepened his skills and competences in the field of management of security systems in the field of disaster management and the field of fire prevention. He designed the effective system of fire prevention organization. Further, he wrote the training manual for the training of the professional firemen and successfully implemented the training system in the company Sava Kranj. For the design and implementation of the earthquake prevention system in the občina Center in Ljubljana, he received the award NNNP 82. During this period, he actively contributed to the design and development of amateur cycling in Slovenia as a member of the professional cycling team in Rog Ljubljana and Sava Kranj. As a member of cycling team Sava Kranj and as a member of national Yugoslav cycling team he attended Mediterranean games in Maroko (1982), Olympic Games in Los Angeles in USA (1984). He also participated on World Cycling Championship in Great Britain (1982), World Cycling Championship in Switzerland (1983) and other domestic and international cycling events in Europe and USA.

He changed his career path and entered the business world. He became the director of the Sava training centre and designed a training program called Academia for executive management. Academia attended several hundred functional managers from Slovenian companies. Academia was recognised by multinational organization Continental as a training program for the managers in operations in the part of the Slovenian company owned by Continental (Tyre Factory in Sava Kranj). In the years 1993 and 1994, he was a member of a European three universities Tempus program for the HR development.

He continued as a business consultant in many Slovenian and some international companies in the field of HR development. In nineties he successfully implemented projects of strategic HR development and marketing effectiveness programs in many successful domestic and international Slovenian companies. To mention some of them: Kolektor Idrija, Perutnina Ptuj, Mura Murska sobota, Valkarton Logatec, Papirnica Kidričevo, Iskra Emeco, Talum Kidričevo, and Energetika Ljubljana. He consulted in forty companies from the public and private sector. During this period, he issued two professional monographs on business excellence and personal development. Monograph on personal development was published by the Visoka šola za socialno delo at the University of Ljubljana.

He gained his first academic experiences as a senior lecturer and as a vice-dean for research at College of Tourism Studies Portorož. During this period, he successfully implemented the PHARE project on the organization of congresses in Slovenia.

As a dean of at College of Tourism Studies Portorož, he integrated it into the University of Primorska and intensively contributed to the constitution and development of the University of Primorska. Besides he actively gained teaching experience lecturing in Sociology of tourism and Theories of Leisure time on the prime and the secondary level of education. He designed and organized first international conference on tourism called EQUENTROS, which attended the participants from eighteen European countries,. As a researcher, he researched in a Research program of University of Primorska: “Between social and spatial convergence and divergence: an exploration into the political geography of European contact areas.” At that time, he authored the scientific monograph: “Sociology of Tourism: The issues for the investigation of travelling cultures and published several scientific and professional articles on tourism topics like tourism security and tourism travel.  He is also the author of the interactive model of teaching at the college level.

In this period, he taught on Security culture in business systems at the Faculty of security and safety sciences at the University of Maribor. He co-authored a post-graduate program in the security. As a visiting lecturer, he taught on Sociology of tourism at master studies at Faculty of economics at the University of Ljubljana.

He taught at the College of tourism studies until he became a director of the Social protection institute of the republic of Slovenia, where he managed several projects in the field of social work. His research in this period aimed at the role of the ombudsman in the society, and he published an article in the scientific journal (JCR) International Journal of Social Welfare. He was a visiting professor at Gea College lecturing in effectiveness of organizational culture. He was also a mentor to the student at master studies of Gea College. The student got a Reward of Excellence for his master diploma.

Ambrož Milan joined the team who constituted the Faculty of tourism studies in Brežice in Slovenia. Besides his academic teaching, he lectured at several first-degree college schools in Business processes and Project management and was a manager of the project in college logistics education. During this period, he published scientific paper on repurchase intentions of tourists in the JCR journal Promote: Impact of mediating role of repurchase plans on customer retention.

As an associate professor he teaches on the Faculty of organizational studies in Novo Mesto on all three academic levels of education: Research methodology, Modern organizational theories, Leadership, ethics and governance, and in New paradigms of organizational theories on doctoral studies. Several years he is a lecturer at AME – Evropski center, Maribor in the program of social gerontology. He lectures on social gerontology, social construction of aging, anthropological views on aging and research in gerontology.

His research aimed at the social construction of phenomena in the field of organization and business systems and corporate culture. His research includes investigation in leadership, ethics and personal development. The most intensive is his research on the area on organizational changes in organizations. Currently, he is the researcher in the project: “Improving competitiveness of public and private sector by networking competences in the process of European integration of Serbia. »  Project leads Faculty of Economics at University of Niš. He authored four scientific papers on organizational change in four scientific monographs of thematic papers during this research project.

Further, his research extends to the field of tourism where he researches the features of tourism travel cultures. A new scientific monograph in this field called: “Social construction of tourism photographic images” will be published to the end of the year 2014 by INBIS Institute. On the field of gerontology, he investigates the role of the more elderly population in the business and working environment and the role of the lifestyle in the maintaining of the quality of life of the older population.

In the field of research methodology and research planning, he develops the gaze of the researcher on the research process. This approach directs the interest of the researcher to the field of theorization in research.  The scientific monograph: “Researcher gaze” will be published by INBIS at the end of the year 2014.

Ambrož Milan is the author, leading author or co-author of eight scientific monographs and two professional monographs. He published two monographs abroad. He published scientific monographs on the field of organization changes, on the field of organizational culture and the area of leadership in organizations. His scientific work consists of twenty-four original scientific papers, many professional papers published in a professional journal or published on domestic or international conferences on organization, tourism, energetics, and security. He also published several research reports from the field of tourism and organization effectiveness. He is the member of the international boards of three scientific journals from the field of tourism, sociology and economics.

Ambrož Milan active pursuits his interests on the field of photography. As a photographer, he received several awards at home and abroad. He is the author of the cover photography for some scientific monographs. He is also a member of a Slovene Anthropological Society.
